Watercolor wonders -TMS #262

Happy Tuesday to you!!  It's time for Tuesday Morning Sketches and this week is our JUDGED CHALLENGE with a TWIST!!   I love the challenges with the twist, BUT I have to tell you that this one really challenged me!  This week's twist is "Watercolor"!!   You can use watercolor pencils, or paints, or inks, etc., on any part of your creation for this one.

I've never played with watercolor, so I looked up some tuts on Youtube for inspiration and instruction.  My first attempt was inking a stamp block, spritzing it with water, then using a brush to "paint" my watercolor paper.  Unsuccessful!  Then I tried inking the block, spritzing it with water again, and applying that to the paper.  HA!  It looked like my whole craft room puked on it.  Not good!!   As I was silently muttering about this "awesome" twist, I decided to try one more time...  I used a small SU ink pad and randomly placed it on the paper.  Then I spritzed the inked areas with water and let it all dry.  Nothing impressive but far better than the other attempts!!  (They are all in the trash!)  Some areas got too much water and some didn't get enough, but I was happy to finally have something I could actually use!

My DP is scraps from my desk.  The sentiment is a M5D clear stamp.  The rolled flower is a free SVG from Paper This and That.  It makes the card about 1 1/2" high so no mailing this baby! LOL

Our sponsor this week is Craft Classes Online (formerly My Creative Classroom) and you can win a seat to a class of your choice.  Maybe I should see if they have a watercolor class!  ;)

Here's Melissa's wonderful sketch...

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to go check out the creations from the rest of our DT...  Viewing THEIR creations you will see some watercolor wonders!!

Hahaha, our craft rooms had similar stomach flu issues :) Some of these 'easy' techniques really take some practice! I love how yours ended up - especially that gorgeous flower!

Pretty card Debbie! Your watercolor background turned our great! I love the water color look, but it does take a lot of practice! I have thrown away many attempts! Your stacked flower is lovely!

LOL! Love your descriptions of your attempts and fails. I haven't tried this myself either. But I can say, your card and especially your flower is adorable.
