Plaid tree Christmas - SCC #175

Hello!  It is August 1 and time for a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!  I got to choose our theme this month and chose "include a tree" which is pretty easy for a Christmas card! :).

Here is my card...

I inked the Kraft panel through Echo Park Star Bright stencil.  My trees are MFT Cool Christmas cut from random plaid paper from my Christmas paper stash.  The sentiment is from Concord & 9th Yuletide Ornament.

Challenges:
ABC Christmas N or O - Non-Christmas stash or One layer card (I used a non-Christmas stencil)
The Holly and the Ivy #188 - AG Christmas

This year is flying by, so come play along at Sparkles Christmas Challenge and work on your Christmas card stash!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

Merry - SCC #173

It's June!!  Time for a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!  Our theme for this month asks that you "include the word merry" which is pretty easy when making Christmas cards! :)

Here's my card...

Ardyth - a wonderful card maker - has developed a technique for card making called LIMES.  It's a great way to use the inspiration of another's card without CASEing it.  (I've had a card pinned for along time and used it as my inspiration.  It's the second card in this post.

I trimmed down the musical paper and inked the edges.  My "merry" is Hero Arts Merry Stamp & Cut.  My trees are Poppystamps Evergreen Trio, and I inked the branches with white pigment ink.  "Christmas" is from a "Happy Christmas" die that I use often.  At that point I felt it needed a little more, so I added the punched snowflakes.

We'd love to have you come play along with us at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

Fill your stocking - SCC #172

A new month and a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!  Our theme is "Christmas stocking."

Here is my stocking...

I realized that I don't have a stocking die or stamps, so I hand cut this one.  My paper is Carta Bella A Wonderful Christmas.  I put a piece of vellum behind the stocking so it would stand out better against the plaid.  My sentiment is Hero Arts Merry Stamp & Cut.  A couple of branches from a MS punch and a few adhesive dots finished it off.

We'd love to have you come play along with us at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

A green Christmas - SCC #171

It's April 1st, and I'm not fooling! :)

It's time for a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!  Unfortunately, I've had many green Christmases, but that's not what I'm talking about... our challenge theme this month is Christmas foliage.  (I have to admit that I had to look up to see if flowers were considered to be foliage.  Sadly, they are not.)  So we want to see your greenery.

Here's my card...

My BG paper is a scrap that was sitting on my desk.  My wreath is made from a MS branch punch and Poppystamps Orchard Leaves cut from a variety of green papers.  The "berries" are the leftover dots from a die.  The bow is Poppystamps Grosgrain Ribbon Bos and the sentiment is Poppystamps Small Freestyle Merry Christmas.

We hope you find time to come play along with us this month at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

A merry little Christmas - SCC #170

Happy 1st day of March!  A new month and a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge.  Our theme is Christmas Critters.  Here's my "critter"!

This reindeer is a digital stamp that's been in my stash for awhile from Daydream Designs.  I colored him, but I grabbed the wrong marker so he's much darker than planned. :/  The panel behind him is Papertrey Ink December journal card.

This year is flying by, so come play along and create a Christmas card for your stash. :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

Christmas thank you - C4G #242

Happy Thursday to you!  It's time for a new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz!  Our theme is "anything but square."  That means just what it says. :)  You can create a card in any other shape you'd like.  Here's my mitten...

I cut a Kraft top fold card with Papertrey Ink Mitten die.  I then cut a piece of Scrapbook Customs Christmas Watercolor paper with the same die and ran it through Sizzix Eileen Hall Sweater EF.  I added a Spellbinders Snowflake and a strip of crimped Kraft.  My sentiment is Clear Dollar Tabs & Tags and is cut out with a Simon Says Stamp Tiny Tag.  I cut the green with MS Branch punch, tied a bow of baker's twine, and added a few red dots.

Think of a fun shape and come play along at Cardz 4 Galz!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

You warm my heart - SCC #168

Happy New Year to you!!  Wishing you all a wonderful and blessed 2025!

New year, new month, and new challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge.  I know... Christmas was just last week!  But if you sent all your cards, you need to start working on new ones. :)   Our theme is "warm and cozy."

I embossed the front of an A2 card with Sizzix Eileen Hull Sweater.  My mitten is Papertrey Ink Mitten Die cut from Carta Bella A Wonderful Christmas.  I always cut an extra strip and crimp it for the band at the wrist.  My leaves are Poppystamps Delicate Poinsettia.  My sentiment is Technique Tuesday Hello Winter Sweater that I cut (and matted it) with Die-versions Stitched Circles. I added a double bow of baker's twine behind it.

I hope you come play along at Sparkles Christmas Challenge

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

Merry Christmas - TMS #788

Happy Tuesday to you!  It's time for Tuesday Morning Sketches!  It's time for our Annual Anything Goes challenge!  No sketch, no rules, just anything crafty that you've made.

I had big plans for this challenge, but this month has been busier than expected and that didn't happen, so I'm sharing something fun and easy that I've done for our family...

I found these adorable stockings at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago after Christmas when everything was 75% off.  I got  enough for all our family and 4 additional for my kids' mates.  I hope to embroider the names one day but just used my Cricut and cut the names in vinyl.  Someday there might be 10 hanging, but for now, there are 8...

My 100 yr old house is fun to decorate for Christmas!!

Our kitty likes to be part of the decorations, too. :)  But he's a brat sometimes... he knocked that train car off the track. :/

Wishing you a blessed and happy CHRISTmas!!

Be sure to go check out the final creations from the TMS DT.  We've enjoyed creating with you so much and are sorry to say good-bye to this challenge!!

We'd love to have you play along with us this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches!

Hi!  Less than 2 weeks until Christmas!!  It's time for our new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz, and you may have guessed our theme... Christmas!  Here's my final Christmas card creation of 2024...

My paper is bits and pieces from random paper packs.  My lights are Echo Park Christmas Lights dies.  My sentiment is from one of the first stamp sets I bought ever and the packaging is long gone, so I don't know who made it. :/

Please come over and play at Cardz 4 Galz!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day and a very Merry CHRISTmas!!

Glory to the newborn King - SCC #167

Happy December 1st!!  Christmas is almost here!!!!

A new month and a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!  This time our theme asks you to feature a Christmas carol/song.  I'm using a phrase from the chorus of Hark, the Herald Angels Sing!

I stamped and heat embossed the Neat & Tangles Joyful Sentiment on a sheet of the Paper Studio "the Classics."   I added the Die-version Nativity Border in black and layered the star in gold.

Time's flying, so if you still need to make some more Christmas cards, let SCC be your inspiration and come play along with our challenge!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day and a very Merry CHRISTmas!!

Snowflakes - SCC #166

Christmas is next month!!!  That's exciting to say! That means it is November and time for a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge.  If you read the title, you may have guessed that our theme is "snowflakes."

I have to say that I love this snowflake card!!

It is so pretty but was so simple and easy!!  The snowflake background paper is
O Holy Night from Hobby Lobby.  The sentiment is a strip from another sheet in the same pack that I adhered diagonally.  These delicate snowflakes are Poppystamps Adelaide Snowflakes cut from gold paper.  So quick and easy, but sooooo pretty IRL!!

We'd love to have you come play along with us this month at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!

Here' s my card...

My paper is .Scrapbook Customs Christmas Watercolor.  I covered a small piece of cardstock  with the strips of paper then cut out the heart with Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Hearts.   I added the Poppystamps Grosgrain Ribbon Bow.  My sentiment is Poppystamps Small Freestyle Merry Christmas.

All is calm - TMS #775

Happy Tuesday to you!  It's time for Tuesday Morning Sketches!  I make Christmas cards all year long for another design team, but as we get into fall, I usually need to make more, so that's what I did for this challenge...

My paper is O Holy Night from Hobby Lobby.  The sentiment/image were cut from the paper, too, using CottageCutz Double Stitched Ovals.  i colored a few adhesive dots to match for the circles in the corner.

Here's our sketch...

JOY - SCC #164

September is here and fall is not far behind!  Yay!  But no matter the season, we are making Christmas cards at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!  This month's theme is "sentiment as focus."  Here's my card...

It's hard to get a good pic of gold paper!!

The main sentiment is Poppystamps Double Joy die.  "to the world" is from Kraftin's Kimmie Nativity Stamps.  The MFT Die-namics Christmas Ornaments were cut in gold paper then dry embossed with CB Swiss Dots, CB Holly Ribbons, or Lifestyle Whimsy.

Be sure to come play along with us at Sparkles Christmas Challenge and show off your sentiments!

Meowy Christmas - SCC #163

It's the first day of August and time for a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!!  Our theme for this month is "Christmas critters."  This will be fun because there are so many cute Christmas critter stamps and digis and dies!   Here are my cute critters...

My image is a colored digi from Bugaboo Stamps that's been waiting a looooong time for me to use it! :)  My sentiment is computer generated.  My paper is Echo Park Christmas.  My button is Poppystamped Stitched Buttons.  A couple of branches from a MS punch and twine from my stash finished it off.

Find your cute critters and come play along at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

Congratulations and Father's Day and Christmas, oh my! - TMS #762

Happy Tuesday to you!  It's time for Tuesday Morning Sketches!  So last week, I had 2 cards with the sketch.  This week, I have 3 to show you!  When I saw the sketch, I could not think of what to do with it!  Then the ideas came flooding and I tried them all. :D

Card #1...

I cut a panel of AC My Baby paper.  I cut a couple of layers of pink with Die-namics Rocking Horse.  I remembered that I had some mulberry paper from my days of trying to make tear bears, so I made the cloud with it.   My sentiment is from Bo Bunny Sentiments.

Card #2...

My paper is Pink Paislee Outfitters.  The shape behind "Dad" is the outline die of Spellbinders Medium Peony.  (I wanted an irregular shape!)  The heat embossed sentiment is The Project Bin Classic Man, and "Dad" is Sweet n Sassy Stamps Dad Word Die.

Card #3...

This was actually the first idea I had, but it ended up being the one I liked the least.  It's ok, but didn't have the "wow" factor I was hoping for.  It's Poppystamps Stained Glass Snowflake die with Poppystamps Stained Glass Background.  This sentiment is one I use a lot!  It was a gift with an order years ago with no label.  The snowflake frame is glitter paper and the sentiment is silver paper, so it is pretty IRL.  Just nothing spectacular.  Oh well.  It will mail well.  LOL

Here's our sketch...

**You'll want to be sure to visit us for the next several challenges!  TMS is celebrating 15 years in July!  To celebrate, we are revisiting some fun sketches from prior years.  Be sure to check it out!

Use your dies - SCC #161

Happy June 1st!  It's time for a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge! This month's theme is "use dies."  I'm not sure if I ever make a card without using dies, so this was easy peasy for me. ;)

I made a frame using Scalloped Stitched Rectangles and A2 Matting Basics.  My "tree" is CottageCutz Holiday Greetings Tree.  It's hard to tell, but the card base has some shimmer to it and the silver paper I used is very shiny.  So pretty IRL!!

We'd love to see what you make!  Come visit at Sparkles Christmas Challenge to see the DT's creations and then play along with us!

Christmas presents - SCC #160

A new month and a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!  This month's theme is "ribbon or twine.'  I used to use ribbon on ALL of my cards but haven't done that as much recently.  I used ribbon as an accent, but on this card, it is part of the focal elements...

A piece of the Paper Studio Pine St. Square.  Presents (rectangles) cut from Kraft cardstock.  Ribbon from the Paper Studio.  My sentiment was a die that was an extra gift with an order long ago from who knows where. Simple, but cute.

Please come play along with us at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!

Thanks for stopping and have a blessed day!

Non-traditional Christmas - SCC #159

Good morning!  Happy April Fool's Day!  I thought of telling an outrageous story and then saying, "April Fool's!" but couldn't think of anything, so you just get to see my card for this month's challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenge!  Our theme is "non-traditional colors."

Here's my card...

I love this because it is also a recycled card.  I actually made 3 from the tri-fold card I received a couple of Christmases ago.  I knew as soon as I got it that I would be recycling it, but it took me awhile. LOL  I adhered the cutout scene onto an A2 card base.  I cut the sentiment from white heavy cardstock then navy.  This is Pink & Main Merry Christmas.  This card makes me very happy and sad at the same time.  I love the card, but it makes me miss going to NYC at Christmastime!

Please come play along at Sparkles Christmas Challenge
