Anniversary card

This is the card I made this weekend for my parents anniversary... I am late... I just totally missed it... they have been married for 52 yrs!!!   It is basic and says "happy anniversary" on the inside and leaves room for me to write a note.

After this post, I'll be absent for a few days.  There was a death in my family this weekend, and we will be taking off tomorrow for NB to be with family and for the funeral later this week.

More CAS sympathy cards

A couple of quick post today of cards made this weekend.  My family will be going away for a funeral later this week.

These are a few more CAS sympathy cards.
One of the recipients is a card maker.  When she thanked me, she told me that sympathy cards are difficult for her to make but she liked the one I gave her because it was bright and encouraging. I made 3 similar but the yellow is my favorite.  The blue totally hidden behind the yellow is just like it (only blue!).

I'm submitting this to CAS-ual Fridays #40- "tie one on" (use ribbon)

CAS sympathy cards

Unfortunately, this week I need several sympathy cards.  This is a type of card I don't just make to have on hand, though I probably should.   Not  my favorite to make!  There were 2 deaths this week that are related to 6 families with ties to our church.  So I need to make a few more.   There is sorrow, but not "as others which have no hope."  Their loved ones are with Jesus!

I'd been looking at clean&simple stamping's sketch 177 and when I heard of the deaths, it immediately came to mind.

The inside says "Our caring thoughts are with you during this difficult time"

They are 4 1/4" square.

Here's the card I made for my hubby.  I won't show you the inside because that is full of mushy stuff! :)  And I did tell him that I feel that way every day, not just today!!!

I did make it at the last minute (I was busy working on my kids pop top can treats), but there are challenges still doing Valentine's...

Pop-top can Valentine gifts

My Kitchen-Aid can opener was great for many years, but about a month ago, it died.  *moment of silence*
My husband bought one that opens the can with "no sharp metal edges"!  Thought came to mind (but not expressed) "Why didn't you get me another Kitchen Aid opener??"  But then I had a light bulb moment... I can now make pop top can gifts!!

I made them for my kids for Valentine's Day today! :)   Here they are...  (scroll down for pics and instructions)  I'm entering this is the Cuttlebug Spot Sweetheart Challenge -hearts (mine are embossed) and a stamp.

Cloud9Design, K&Company, Me & My Big Ideas, and Basic Grey papers
My kids LOVED them!!  One of my daughter's said, "Oh, I've got to get a picture of this before I open it!"
Argyle Cuttlebug folder on band  (this was my son's)

can't remember where I got this stamp

Cuttlebug Love Stamp folder, tag is heat embossed

Here's how to make one...

1. Open your pop top can on the bottom.   These soup cans are kind of big... the mandarin orange cans are a great size, but I didn't have enough of them.   If your family is helping you get your stash of cans, make sure everyone knows to save the bottom they cut off!!! :)

2. Have lunch :)

3. Remove label and clean out well
4. Cut your paper to fit around the can (this one was 4 3/4" x 10 1/2")  Use a strong adhesive especially on the edge that laps over.  I used Sticky Strip on that edge and used my ATG tape on the other edges.
5. Cover can.  I added a second band around that I had embossed.
6. Cover lid, if desired.  I had to cover the lid because it had writing on it.  Cut a circle that fits and cut out the area around the tab.

7. Fill with goodies and 'top' (it will be on the bottom when opened) with basket filler, if desired.
8. Put a bead of hot glue around the rim of the bottom.  **Lesson learned... DO NOT use low temp glue!  It will harden before you can get the lid on!

9. Place on can and push all sides in.  I used my little hammer (I think it was for eyelets) to help get it on tight.  It dries quickly so you have to move fast or you'll be pulling it off, removing the glue and doing it again.   Yeah, I learned that lesson, too!

10. Embellish sides and top as desired.  It is such a fun gift!  Most people will wonder where you bought a can of their favorite candy!  Crafty people will wonder "How did you do that??"   Just smile!!

My Redeemer Liveth! -Easter card

I don't have all my Valentine cards and treats ready for my family, but I made an Easter card!!    Valentine's is a wonderful day to express our love to our sweethearts, family, and friends, but Easter is when God expressed His love for us all!!

This week's challenge at Word Art Wednesday is to use the verse Job 19:25...  "For I know that my redeemer liveth..."  This verse tells me not just that He loved me, but that His love is fulfilled!!!  I have the assurance of eternal life because Jesus died for my sins, was buried, and rose again!!

New stamps I recently got from Clear Dollar Stamps fit this  verse perfectly!!  I used the empty tomb stamp from there and computer generated the verse.  I'm putting this is their Clearly Inspired Challenge #45-use pink, green, purple, and white.

I used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches #132.   Beautiful sketch, as always!!!

When I looked at Stampin' Sisters in Christ's challenge #126 this afternoon and saw that their theme was based on Job 8:21 and we are to "create a happy card - happy news- rejoicing in life" I knew this would work!  The resurrection represents the best news of all!!!

Merry Christmas tall (long?) card

Another Christmas card.  I'm trying to keep up with the jingle belles challenges this year.  Since they are only every two weeks, I should be able to, and when I can, I will try to make at least 2 cards.  It's kind of funny that for this challenge, I was the first poster, and now I'm going to be close to being the last one, too! :)

I really love the sketches at clean & simple!   I've pointed a friends who are wanting to start making cards to this site.  The sketches are clean and simple, but beautiful!!

This is for both of these challenges...

clean&simple 176 - sketch -I made mine a little longer

Tiny Valentine card

Here is a little 3x3 card.  It looked better in my mind when I was planning than it came out.  :(    My camera had trouble focusing, too.  I think it was because of the plaid paper.  Oh well, here it is...

Wow!  I'm getting this card done at the last minute for a couple of challenges.  It's a best friend card and hopefully, it will be in the mail to my best friend in just a couple of days.

I saw this digi stamp on someone's card and had to have it!  I got it from Stretch n Bubbles just before they closed in December.
