DD's second card

Here is Brenna's second card of the day.  These challenges will let them enter more than one creation, so this will be a second entrance in these challenges...

Simon Says Stamp Children's Holiday Challenge - anything goes
Little Hands Challenge #17 - summer

And her dad and brother were even fishing while she made it!!

A creation of my daughter!!

My youngest daughter, Brenna, likes to craft.  Sometimes, she will take over the craft room and have a blast cutting with my Cricut.   BTW, the name is Brenna, not Brenda, not Breanne, not Brianna, or any other variation... it is Brenna!!  Can you tell that most people can't (or don't) read and totally mess up her name at the doctor's office, etc.??  Thanks for letting me vent! :)

OK, I'm calm now.  I found a couple of challenges for kids.  This morning, my husband took our son fishing, the older 2 girls are at camp, so she came and played in my craft room.  I asked a few questions about what she wanted to get her going, but she picked out everything and made 2 cards and did everything herself.  So I'll have another post after this one.

The challenge over at Little Hands Challenge #17 is summer and as soon as I told her, she said, "Ice cream!"   We eat a LOT of ice cream in the summer!!
Simon Says Stamp Challenge has a Children's Summer Holiday Challenge and she'll enter that, too.

"for my teacher" note card

I know, I know!! It is kind of odd for a home schooling mother to make a card for a teacher!   I will either sell it at a craft show this fall or let my kids use it for their Sunday School teacher.  Or let my kids write me a nice note!  ;)  The digi stamps are from Doodle Pantry and I got the "Book Ants" set for the books and the reading sentiments but this one fit better on my card.  :)

Challenges:
Mojo Monday 203 - sketch
BBTB2 - "Locker Talk" or any other 'back to school' cut
Cricut Cardz #86- "Tuitti Fruitti"

~g.c.d.studios paper
~Doodle Pantry "Book Ants" digi stamps
~apple from ACY
~Treading Waters border punch

I have to show off my youngest DD with our new kittens...

'so sweet' ice cream card

We love ice cream all year long but especially in the heat of summer!!  FYI... my fave is 'Death by Chocolate' made by Stewart's here in NY!!  :-)

I'll use this card for a note card, a thank you card, or a birthday card... whichever I need.  I did not get it photographed while the sun was still up so the color isn't quite perfect, but you get the idea.

This one if for 2 challenges:
Bitten by the Bug 2 - ice cream
Opus Gluei - "beat the heat"

~ice cream cone from ACY cut at 5"
~DCWV Sweet Stack paper
~DCWV Hippie Chic cardstock
~scallop, swirl, and 'so sweet' stamps are MME 'fine & dandy'

"Howdy Pardner" boy's card

I have not put a sentiment inside yet but I think this will probably end up being a birthday card.  Cards for boys are always a challenge for me, so I'll probably need it for that.
This for the current Cards for men challenge.

Anniversary card - BBTB2

This week at BBTB2, they inspired us with the flying bird on Florals Embellished.  I don't have that cart, but I liked this image from ACY.  Since I need to make several anniversary cards, this worked great for me.  (Sorry the pic is not totally in focus!)

"home tweet home" card

I don't have either "Straight from the Nest" or "Stretch Your Imagination" they suggest over at BBTB2 for this week's challenge and blog hop, but I do have DS, so I made my own birdhouse.

How did I do it?

I cut the dreidel from JOTS, turned it upside down, trimmed the handle, and cut a circle from the middle for the house itself.  Welded a couple of shapes from GBS for the roof.  Used a rounded rectangle for the 'floor'
~ Bazzill cardstock
~ Blossoms and Butterflies paper
~ swirl border from Joys of the Seasons
~ bird from A Child's Year
~ 'home tweet home' is from Tear Drop cut at 1"
~heart and branch are from Sweethearts (I wanted to use the kissing birds, too, but they didn't cut well that small)

Best friend St Patrick's Day card

I'm not Irish and we don't usually 'do' St. Patrick's Day, so when this week's Cricut Cardz challenge was to make a card without using a shamrock, I had no clue what to do.  But I like a challenge... pun intended!! ...so I found this quote and made this card for my best friend.  She is not Irish either... she was born in Dominica! :-)   She'll get a good laugh out of it even though it has a nice sentiment!

What I used:

~pre-made A2 green card
~Colorbok green and yellow paper
~friends cut from ACY at 2 1/2" and shadowed

(for the first time in forever, I cut without DS because the shadow
didn't fit when I cut in DS for some reason) *I figured it out... I had real size checked!)
~hat from ACY
~computer printed sentiment
~DCWV Summer stack 'rainbow' paper
~American Crafts ribbon
~Studio 18 rhinestones

"Fishing was good" hanging plaque

I had a busy weekend so hadn't planned to get much made, but I messed up some of the plans when I totaled our van! :(  My daughter was with me, and PTL we are both ok!!  Sore sternum from the seat belt doing its job, but we have sooooooo much to be thankful for!!!!

I've taken it easy, but today, I needed to get back in my craft room, so this is my third and final post of the day.  Then I'm going to bed!

Ever since I found this slate at my MIL's, I have been wanting to use it.  The BBTB2 challenge was to use the little fishing boy from ACY.  I did a search for fishing quotes and found this one!  My husband's office is decorated with fishing paraphernalia so this will be his....
What I used:
~slate that had a wire already on it! :D
~boy from A Child's Year cut in black outdoor outdoor vinyl - he's cut at about 5" but I stretched him in DS a little to fit my tile
~words from Lyrical letters & Stamped cut at about 1"
~'sign' behind words - shape from Stamped shortened in DS and cut wood grain contact paper

Hope you like it!  Thanks for looking!!

"Get Well Soon" -Cricut Cardz challenge #62

This week's Cricut Cardz challenge #62 is to make a card using a cup image from any cartridge.  To check it out click here.
Mine came from A Child's Year.  I'm happy with this because it could be used for a man as well.  Most 'get well' cards tend to be frilly.

What I used:
~Me & My Big Ideas patterned paper
~Bazzill cardstock
~cup from ACY cut at 3 3/4 and 4 since there is no shadow feature
~'get well soon' from Beyond Birthdays cut at 1 1/2" and blackout shadowed
~grossgrain ribbon

"Love at first sight!" valentine

My last valentine for this year!  When our oldest daughter was born, it truly was love at first sight!    This idea came to mind when I saw the Fantabulous Cricut challenge from this week... "Share the Love"!    They are having a blog crawl.  Go check it out!  The creations are awesome and some are offering blog candy if you are interested in that.

What I did:
  • Welded heart from Lyrical Letters to rectangle for the card -Cloud 9 paper
  • cut just the heart in contrast - boysenberry linen textured CS from J's
  • mother and baby from A Child's Year shadowed -I think it is really a girl and her doll, but it worked! :D
  • LOVE from Jubilee welded
  • white gel pen for trim and "It was...at first sight"
  • the inside says... "and we've loved you ever since!!"

Happy Valentine's Day to you!

Tile for cat lovers....

This is a great gift for the cat lover!  Used A Child's Year font for the kitty and Camp Out for the paw prints on a 6x6 tile.
