Eat cake!! :)

Let's eat cake!!!!  Who doesn't love to eat cake, especially birthday cake??  I guess that would be my family!  Our "birthday cakes" are cinnamon rolls or cheesecake or S'mores Bars or French Silk Pie or German Chocolate Brownies or Oreo 'Lasagna'!!  Not very cake-ish, are we?  But that's what we usually have... my son is the only one who actually asks for a "normal" cake!

I've got a fun cake for you today!!   Doesn't this look like it would be yummy if it were real?

My cake features Cute Cake from Doodle Pantry.  FYI, this set is FREE with purchase until April 24!!!   So check your DP wishlist, buy a set, and get this set FREE!! :)

I kept my card pretty simple.   I printed the colored banner and cake, cut it to size, embossed with Cuttlebug "With Gratitude" EF, scored on both sides of the sentiment banner, fussy cut another cake, and popped it up with Scotch permanent mounting tape.  (That stuff is really neat... it gives dimension, but it quite thin so that card is not too bulky.)

Challenges...
Wags 'n Whiskers #126 - CAS
Fab 'n Funky #212 - Flower Power
My Craft Spot #133 - tags and/or banners

Triple stamped thank you

My card tonight is made with a technique that I've never done before... triple time stamping.  And I must confess, the final project is not my first attempt.  I've been working on this for a few days, and there are a couple of tries that sadly ended up in the trash can. :/   But I persevered and have something to show you.  :)

I cut my Neenah Classic Crest cardstock in the shapes I wanted, then stamped the flower which is from Stampabilities and colored with my Spectrum Noir markers.  The sentiment is Paper Trey Ink.   I added a few buttons to the flowers and here it is!

Challenges...
Clear It Out - thank you + buttons *these are from the first pkg of buttons I ever bought!!!  How's that for using my stash??? :)
Technique Time Tuesday - triple time stamping

Sweet kitties!!

We have 3 cats at our house.  They are so sweet!  **most of the time!  I do love kitties, so the Kitten Trio set from his month's release at Doodle Pantry was right up my alley!

But I will have to tell you that these kitties gave me trouble!  This is the third card they were on... I tore the others apart because I wasn't satisfied.  I'm still not totally thrilled with this, but I needed to finish a card!

My coloring is not the greatest but I used 2 of our kitties for inspiration.  Ours are different colors, but I tried to sorta kinda copy their coloring pattern.  Aren't Patch and Pixie cute?

Our third cat, Peanut, is part Maine Coon so he is big and fluffy!!

Happy Father's Day - take #2

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a card that I had made to send to my dad for Father's Day.  A friend wanted to buy it, so I sold it and thought, "I have lots of time to make another."  Today I suddenly realized I'd better get one made and in the mail if I hope to get it to him on time!!   [My mother's Mother's Day card was late, so should his be late, too?? :) ]

Many challenges have father's day as the theme so it was easy to find inspiration.  It didn't take too long to make and I'm thankful as I don't have much energy because I'm trying to recover from a miserable cold!!

Freedom is not free!

**Scroll down for my M5D post**

Monday is Memorial Day in the US.  A day to remember those who gave their lives fighting for our freedom.  This poem is more often heard in Canada on Remembrance Day, but we all need to remember the thoughts it expresses...

In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Cuttlebug 'Stars' embossing folder was perfect for these!!

The image and sentiment are from Patriotic Eagle COLOR Plus from Doodle Pantry.  I thought this set PERFECT for these cards!!   We made several all similar to these two.  I made them a more simple design for two reasons:  it is not about our 'beautiful cards' -- it is about honoring them for their service, and also, we have different levels of creative skills in our group.  (Am I right, ladies?   )

Have a great weekend!  Please do remember that Monday is Memorial Day... it isn't just a long weekend nor is it "National Barbecue Day"!

Challenges...
Little Scrap Pieces Fun Friday - red, white, and blue
Fab n Funky #172 - ribbon and/or lace (DP is sponsoring and I'm on the DT so I'm not entering to win)

Here is a pic of the full set...

Birthday cupcake!!

Birthday cards are very enjoyable to make!  This one was fun because of this cute image!

This week Doodle Pantry is sponsoring Pile It On's challenge and the theme is "Oh Yummy!"   (I'm just a little slow getting with it!)
Birthdays are always yummy with cake or cupcakes or cheesecake or French silk pie or cinnamon rolls or baked s'mores.  (The last several are often choices of my family for "birthday cake"!)  Now I've made myself hungry!

~Kraft cardstock
~TH walnut stain distress ink

Challenges...
Fab n Funky #162 - add a sentiment
