"50 is not old" birthday card

My oldest sister will turn 50 next week.  I wanted to be sure and mark the occasion in a 'special' way even from a distance.  :)  So this is the result...

I thought of doing the "no matter how old you get, I'll always be younger than you are" but that's been done before - I'm the youngest.  So I thought I'd start out nice and encouraging...

But here's the inside...
Good thing I'm several hundred miles away! :)

This card will be submitted to--
Fantabulous Cricut - spring
Tuesday Morning Sketches - the sketch
Birthday Sundaes - spring birthday

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Leibster blog award!!

Thank you so much to Donna for this Leibster Award!!!  Check out her blog...Donna's Dreamworks

This blog award is for blogs with less than 300 followers and is to be passed along to 3-5 blogs.

It is certainly true that the number of followers does not indicate the amount of talent of the blogger because I have found some wonderfully talented crafters with not a lot of followers.  So here are a few great blogs that I have recently found for you to check out as I pass this award along...

Thank you, ladies, for inspiring me!!

Pink and brown Thank You card

Today was a great day!!  It is our second daughter's 13th birthday.  After school, we went out to go to a glow putt-putt, but found it closed.  So we stopped at the new Hobby Lobby!  My first time EVER in that store.  LOVE IT!!!  Spent too much!!  Then we went out to dinner, home for French Silk Pie, then when the kids went to bed, I made a card for this week's Stamping 411 challenge.

The color is funny on the next pic but it shows the bow after I fixed it...

 What I used:
~ Basic Grey paper
~ Bazzill cardstock
~ Floral Fantasy Cuttlebug folder
~ digi stamp
~ ribbon and flowers from my stash

Here's a t-shirt I made for Robin using freezer paper for the 'stencil' and fabric paint.  It's really hot pink, though it looks red.

Thanks for looking!!!!

Keeping Christmas all year long

I am having fun making a Christmas card each week for the jingle belles challenge.  This week we had to follow a sketch.

All the paper, letter brads, ribbon and Christmas stamp are from my stash.  The embossed gift was a bonus folder that came with my Cuttlebug and I chalked it a little.

Merry CHRISTmas early!!!  :-)

Flowery "Thanks"

This 'thanks' from the Stamped cart is so cute!  It is not as delicate as some other thank you cuts, so I especially like it for cards.

This week at the Circut Cardz Challenge, they have a 'recipe' - a thank you card with a Cricut cut border using the colors blue, yellow and white.

Here's my take on it...

What I used:
~ patterned paper and ribbon from Basic Grey
~ blue and yellow cardstock from my stash
~ "Thanks" from Stamped cut at 3 1/2" and shadowed, cut in white and just the flower used
~ flowers from Stamped welded for the blue border, single flowers cut in yellow
         and stems removed
~ glitter glue for the flower center

Thanks for looking!!!

With the news that a friend is expecting, babies have been on my mind.  (Though not for me... we're done!)  I started this one thinking it could be for either boy or girl, but I did not have a good blue so with all the pink, I think this will end up for a girl.

"Heard you caught a bug" get well card

Ladybugs... that is the theme for this week at BBTB2.
I used to think they were so cute.  But where we live, there are so many, many, many of them because of the farms.  They are everywhere!!  So live ladybugs just bug me now.  But all is not lost... there are many cute ones on carts including this one from Doodlecharms.   So this wasn't too traumatic for me. :-)

The inside is stamped 'feel better soon'!

~ Jar from DC cut at 2 1/2"
~ Ladybug from DC cut at 1"
~ Basic Grey Recess patterned paper

Chip n Dale and a Wedding cake?????

Yep!  I made files for Chip n Dale and a wedding cake for my newest LO's.
You can relax, they are not on the same LO!!!

Our youngest 2 love each other to death... except when they don't!   If you are a parent, you understand that!!  LOL!  But they really are good buds and I liked this pic,
so was inspired by my DD's pants for the Chip n Dale and title.
They love the cat!  He loves them (sometimes), too!
I made the Chip n Dale file from a coloring page in MTC.  The font is Cheri.
Fancy Pants paper

At our church, my husband, who is the pastor, preaches a series once a year on the home.  Then we have a special service when all the couples can renew their vows.  He always makes a cake and punch for a fellowship time afterward.  He made the cake, taught us all to make the flowers, and decorated everything.

The cake was made in MTC from a coloring page online.  The flourishes are from Sentiments.
The font is LokiCola.  The tags are cut with my Nesties.
The bakcground paper is glittery swirls Slice Specialty paper.
I got 25 sheets for $2.99!!!!!  Found several deals at Ollie's in WV.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a ham!!!
The trench coat figure is from webdings.  The font is Waterfalls.
The magnifying glass was cut in MTC from clipart.
A LO of several cute pics of our kitty playing.
The font is Loki Cola
It snowed a LOT this winter!  I love it!!!  These 2 pgs are during and after 3 different storms.
Encouragment card for a man
This is the first card I've made using a digital stamp.  I need to learn some more about sizing, etc before I print, but they are really neat!!
I wanted to use this stamp and wanted to do a card for the Cards for men challenge which is to make a card with water as the theme.  It wasn't really birthday material, so thought just a more masculine card to give encouragement.
What I used:
~  Fancy Pants patterned paper
~ Cardstock from my stash
~ grosgrain ribbon
~ 'Like a river' stamps both designed by Laurie Wilson of Doodle Pantry that I got
             over at Clear Dollar Stamps
~ watercolor pencils  -since I don't have any Copics... yet!  :D
Bible Charade fun LO
Even though I am trying to keep up with this year's events in my scrapping, I am still working on January.  One Sunday night, we had a teen afterglow at our house and played Bible Charades... teens vs. parents.
I forgot to put my camera on the sport setting, so some of the pics aren't totally in focus, but we had so much fun that I wanted to do a LO anyway.  I followed the sketch from and am submitting this to Sketchy Thursdays.
I used Colorbok paper for the background, Bazzill for the mats, and some Bible words paper I've had awhile.  "Bible Charades" is Sybil Green font and shadowed in MTC.  Flowers are from some scrap paper that matched.
And just in case you can't read it... the last journal tag says "Parents won!!!!!"  :-D
"Thank You" card
When I made my first card a few years ago, it took me hours, literally!!!  It doesn't take near that long now, but I will have to admit that doing challenges and following sketches helps so much!!
This card follows the sketch from Stamping 411 for this week.  I love looking at all the cards from the DT and submitters to see how differently we all end up from the same sketch!
What I used:
~ Cricut white cardstock to make the 5x5 card
~ Bazzill bling for the blue shadows
~ Patterned paper from DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies
~ Fiskars 'thank you' stamp - SU soft sky ink
~ Scalloped circles made in MTC to match the numbers of scallops in my stamp
~ Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Floral Fantasy embossing folders on the white
~ Ribbon and brads from my stash
Thanks for stopping by!!
"Nuts about reading" bookmark
At our house, we really do love to read!!  My mother makes embroidered bookmarks for my kids, so I usually leave that to her, but this week over at Cricut Cardz the challenge is to make a bookmark.  I found a quote that I like and agree with but it was a little too much unless I computer generated it.  Maybe next time.
“If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.” ~Oscar Wilde
It is a rounded rectangle from GBS welded to the squirrel shadow from Winter Woodland for the base.  I cut the shadow again in dark brown.  Cut the squirrel body in the light color.   A patterned paper rounded rectangle from GBS.  "nuts" is cut at 1" from Alphalicious.  "About reading" done with an alphabet stamp set.  (My 'u' is a little too tipsy!)  Accented by criss-crossing the "I".  Outlined 'nuts' since the colors were so close.
"Home for the Holidays" card
I'm really enjoying making a Christmas card each week along with the jingle belles where the theme was "home for the holidays"!  This card will also be submitted to Celebrate the Occasion for this week's challenge of green, white, + another color.  I chose red!  And Christmas is my favorite 'occasion'!!
The "home for the holidays" theme gave me several ideas, but probably my favorite part of Christmas, as well as something that brings back wonderful memories of home, is the music!   We always did, and still do, go caroling to older folk, but as a child, our extended family would gather round the piano and sing all Christmas evening.  It was wonderful!!
What I used:
~ DCWV glitter mat stack for the red and green
~ DCWV holiday stack patterned paper
~ clipart printed on my computer, cut in a 2" circle
~ 2 1/2" green circle
~ 2 3/4 red scalloped circle
~ grosgrain ribbon
~ 'Merry Christmas' stamp
"home tweet home" card
I don't have either "Straight from the Nest" or "Stretch Your Imagination" they suggest over at BBTB2 for this week's challenge and blog hop, but I do have DS, so I made my own birdhouse.
How did I do it?
I cut the dreidel from JOTS, turned it upside down, trimmed the handle, and cut a circle from the middle for the house itself.  Welded a couple of shapes from GBS for the roof.  Used a rounded rectangle for the 'floor'
~ Bazzill cardstock
~ Blossoms and Butterflies paper
~ swirl border from Joys of the Seasons
~ bird from A Child's Year
~ 'home tweet home' is from Tear Drop cut at 1"
~heart and branch are from Sweethearts (I wanted to use the kissing birds, too, but they didn't cut well that small)
Thanks for looking!!!!
"U R 2 cool!" shaped note card - Fantabulous Cricut
This week over at Fantabulous Cricut they are asking for shaped cards.  I'm making Christmas cards, following sketches, and making men's cards, so I decided to do something to bring a touch of summer to these winter days.  I do still love winter, but this made me think of warm summer days that will eventually be here.  (And we'll all be complaining of the heat, right?!?)
Recipe:
~ Pressed Petals CS for the card base
~ 2 popsicles from Doolecharms welded and cut at 5" for the card base
~ popsicle (with sticks) cut at 5" in Bazzill CS
~ popsicle (without sticks) cut in Bazzill CS
~ "U R 2 cool!" is Doodletype cut at 1" - I cut this then went back and 'cut' again
                with a pink Cricut marker
~ American Crafts ribbon
~ white gel pen
Travel note card - Mojo 180
I find making cards from sketches enjoyable because a lot of the thought is done for me.  LOL!  Then I just pick the paper and occasion I want.    This week's Mojo sketch is for a round or square card.  I NEVER make round cards, so thought I'd try it.  This travel paper has been calling to me lately so it finally got used!
This is a good size for a note to say 'good-bye' and maybe tuck in some $ for a trip.  Or it could be a 'welcome home' note.  Maybe even a 'we're having fun' card to write home.
I made all my cuts and made my 'border punch' in MTC.  I even made an envelope for it to fit into in MTC since I don't have any square envies.
What I used:
* Pressed Petals CS for the card
* Gartner Airplane Voyage collection 2-sided paper
* Fiskars travel stamps
* Craft Essentials grosgrain ribbon
Thanks for looking!!!
