Praying for you - C4G #239

Happy Thanksgiving to my friends in the USA!

It's time for a new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz.  We are asking you to create a card for a gal in your life using your favourite colour combo.  This was not easy for me!  I love red, but I don't necessarily love red cards.  So I looked through what I've made over the last several months and what really caught my eye were the cards made with blue and yellow, so I guess that is my new favourite colour combo. :)

My paper is AC Jack Frost.  My flowers are Sizzix TH Small Tattered Flowers.  I added a panel of vellum to tone down the busy pattern of the BG.  My sentiment is one of many like it that I've had printed for a long time.  It is leftover from a ministry at our former church.  We had a Romans 12:15 ministry... "Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep."  I made cards with this sentiment, and we wrote notes and sent them to families in our area on the anniversary of a loved one's death.  (We also sent happy cards to new mothers.)

Challenges:
Crafty Gals Corner #261 - AG w/ opt. twist - use 3 layers
Word Art Wednesday #675-676 - AG that's family friendly

Please play along at Cardz 4 Galz and share your favourite colour combo! (Or one of them.)

Thanks for stopping and have a blessed day!

sending love - C4G #233

Happy Thursday to you!  It's time once again for a new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz!  Our theme is "It's hip to be square!"  We want to see you use squares on your card or make a square card.  Here is mine...

I started by trimming an A2 card to make it square.  I cut a Kraft panel with Spellbinders Postage Stamp and dry embossed it with TH (Sizzix) Air Mail EF.  I inked the edges with ColorBox Cocoa.  My sentiment panel and dotted strip and butterfly were all cut from Simple Stories simple vintage botanicals.  Easy peasey, but fun.

Challenges...
Crafty Gals Corner #258 - AG w/ opt twist of embossing folder
Word Art Wednesday #663-664 - AG uplifting/family friendly

We'd love to have you come play along with us at Cardz 4 Galz

Sharing in your sorrow - TMS #519

Happy Tuesday to you!  It's time for Tuesday Morning Sketches!  My card this week is a sympathy card.  I've needed too many of these recently so am trying to replenish my supply.

ALL of my paper is from my scrap box.  :)   I used Spellbinders Standard Circles, Petite Scalloped Circles, Darice Swirl Vine, a MS border punch, and KI Memories adhesive ribbon.

Ready to throw some snowballs - SCC #103

The first of the month means it is time for Sparkles Christmas Challenge!  This month is #103 - It's Snowtime!  Let's see some snow!

For my card, I found a cute image already colored and waiting to be used.  This is Mimi Winter from Stamp Fairy. [This shop has been closed for several years, so this shows how many images I have waiting for attention!!]  She is colored with Spectrum Noir markers.  I got the dots on the scarf by using the tip of my blender.  Cute effect!  She's cut out with CottageCutz Double Stitched Ovals.  My DP is fancy pants winterland.  I fussy cut around the mittens.  The base panel is cut with Kat Scrappiness Wonky Stitched Rectangles. The ric rac is My Favorite Things Stitched Ric Rac. (Told you I was loving this die!)  I stamped the MME clear sentiment and cut it out with Simon Says Stamp Tiny Tags.

I hope you come play along with our challenge as I've played along with these challenges...

It Is Well With My Soul

Sympathy cards.  I do not ever want to have to make them and really dislike making them, but on the other hand, I do enjoy it.  Only because I want them to be a blessing for the recipient.  I want them to know I care and am thinking of them and praying for them, so I often put more care into a sympathy card than another kind of card, but I've had to make too many recently!  The card I'm sharing today is one that a lot of love and effort went into.  It was made for a college friend who lost her husband after a great physical battle resulting from a stroke.  Too young!  Too soon!  But God had a plan, and their whole family was such a sweet testimony of God's strength and grace through it all.  Often in her updates on his condition, she often shared a song and what it had meant to her that day.

When I saw Sweet n Sassy Stamps' Hymn Blocks set, and I knew I wanted to get it and would use it often, so I ordered it.  When I needed to make her family a card, I knew I needed to use that set.   It has phrases from 6 songs, but I used "It Is Well."

I made it into an easel card...

Happy anniversary - AIMPDC21

Well, I'm not starting September off very well!  This post should have been up this morning.  My daughter left for college early, so we were up and off to the airport at 3:30 AM.  I intended to come home, nap, and then finish my post.  I've been in such a brain fog from getting up at 3 (my nap was only about an hour!), that this never crossed my mind as I've gone through my day... until now, so that's my long story about this later-than-it-should-be post!

Since it's the first of the month, it's time for Doodle Pantry's Ants In My Pantry Digital Challenge over at the Doodle Pantry Blog.  Play along with any digital image for your chance to win!!  If you use a DP image, you have a chance to be the "pantry pick"!  Here's my card...
