3D Grand Piano card

The last few weeks have been so busy that I've only created for my DT commitments.  I love creating for my design teams, but on the weekend, I had some time to create just for me, so I went looking for inspiration.   I was perusing the  Make The Cut forum and saw this file that Andy (MTC's creator) had made.  All I can say is "Wow!!"

I immediately went to try it out and this is the result.  This evening I made the front of the card... (be sure to look further... the best is yet to come!!)

I used pinkpaislee "London Market" 6x6 DP.  I LOVE this paper!!!  The BG paper is embossed with Paper Studio "script" folder, the stamps are 7 Gypsies cling stamps, cut out with Spellbinders Labels Four and a Fiskars punch, and ribbon from my stash.

Up close of the heat embossed treble clef.

NOW for the best part... the inside!!!

Yes, it really is a pop up grand piano!!  How awesome is this?????

I colored it with my Spectrum Noir black marker and meant to go back and even it out, but forgot.  I'll do that before I send it.   I used a white gel pen on the "keys."   Inside sentiment is Paper Trey Ink.

Here is the link to the MTC file...  3D Grand Piano Popup Card

This was my first try.  I will try to find heavier cardstock the next time even though this was ok.  The heavier, the better.   This is only 80 lb. and Andy recommends 100 lb or 110 lb.

Challenges...
Paper Pretties PWC 260 - embossing (I did both dry and heat)
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes

I cannot wait to make more of these!!!  Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Happy June!! - Doodle Pantry New Release

Happy Saturday to you!  Today is June 1 and that means New Releases at Doodle Pantry!!  This month's line up is awesome!!!

This is definitely not your typical baby card, but I thought this paper fit this image well.  These shoes seemed classic/vintage and so did this paper.  (I had baby shoes like this, so does that mean I'm vintage??)   The image and sentiment are from  Baby Shoes.

If you saw my post from last week, you saw cards for veterans taking an Honor Flight.   Once I saw the Freedom Eagle set, I knew I wanted to use it for these cards, too.

We would love to have you play along in Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge #35!   It goes live at noon EST today.  You have until June 24 to join in the fun.  **Remember, you need to use a Doodle Pantry image in your creation, not just a sentiment or digi paper**  Check out the Freebies page if you don't have any DP images yet.  Just for playing along this month, you will receive Quirky Stork for FREE!!

The image is colored with my Spectrum Noir markers, cut out using Spellbinders Circles and Scalloped Circles, backed with DCWV "birthday wishes" DP, and a bit of AC ribbon.  The green paper is reflective that's why you see the 'spots' on it.

Check out all of this week's new releases......

Freedom is not free!

**Scroll down for my M5D post**

Monday is Memorial Day in the US.  A day to remember those who gave their lives fighting for our freedom.  This poem is more often heard in Canada on Remembrance Day, but we all need to remember the thoughts it expresses...

In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Cuttlebug 'Stars' embossing folder was perfect for these!!

The image and sentiment are from Patriotic Eagle COLOR Plus from Doodle Pantry.  I thought this set PERFECT for these cards!!   We made several all similar to these two.  I made them a more simple design for two reasons:  it is not about our 'beautiful cards' -- it is about honoring them for their service, and also, we have different levels of creative skills in our group.  (Am I right, ladies?   )

Have a great weekend!  Please do remember that Monday is Memorial Day... it isn't just a long weekend nor is it "National Barbecue Day"!

Challenges...
Little Scrap Pieces Fun Friday - red, white, and blue
Fab n Funky #172 - ribbon and/or lace (DP is sponsoring and I'm on the DT so I'm not entering to win)

Here is a pic of the full set...

This weekend, Laurie is having a sale... 35% off any purchase now through Monday.  Visit the Specials page for details.    Also, now through Monday, School Bus is also FREE w/ purchase!!

On Monday, USA Freedom is available for download FREE!!  It will be for sale in the store after that.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #199

Wow!  Tuesdays seem to come around so quickly!!  I guess that means I'm old since time seems to be flying by for me! :/

But I am glad when Tuesday comes because that means Tuesday Morning Sketches!!   This week our sponsor is Stamp Fairy.

Here's our awesome sketch by Melissa...

I turned the sketch on it's side for my card...

I just LOVE embossing!!  See last night's post to see how much I love it!! :)

I have to say that I was very excited with the end result!!  I'm watching videos to improve my coloring, and I think it might be helping because I was very happy with this image!!
~The paper is all scraps! :)  (I think I could create until 2053 with all the scraps I have!!)
~My image is Linda Spring 2 from Stamp Fairy.
~I used Cuttlebug Swiss Dots, Darice Lace border, and Darice Large Petal embossing folders.
~I didn't put any sentiment on the front so that I can use it for a note card, birthday card, or whatever I wish.

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to go check out the creations from the rest of our DT...

Embossing overload!!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

My heart is aching and my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Oklahoma tonight who have lost loved ones as a result of these horrible tornadoes.  May God comfort you and bless you in the days ahead!!!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

If you have visited my blog for any amount of time, you probably have noticed that I LOVE embossing!!  I really like the look of heat embossing but I really love embossing folders!!!  I dare not admit how many I own, (actually, I have never counted!) but I have to show my latest addition(s).

A few weeks ago, I got an email from Cricut.  I sometimes read them, but often just delete because I buy my stuff at places where I can get it cheaper.  Sorry, PC!  I did read that one and they were having a Cuttlebug sale... MANY embossing folders were $1.99!!!!!  So I got a few  a bunch  too many  some good ones...

As you can see, most are multi-packs.  I got 24 folders and borders in all plus several dies.  They even had the 6x13 B and C plates for $2.99.  At Joann's last week, I found the A plate on sale, so I paid less than the regular cost of one for all three long plates!!  But I only have ONE long folder.  I guess I need to shop more! LOL  Anyone know where to get the long folders cheaply? :)  Until then, I'll just use them to do more than one folder or lots of Spellbinders all at the same time.

Tomorrow I have a friend coming over to make cards, so I plan to use some of these babies!!

Embossing adds so much, IMHO, and I love the look!!  Here is a thank you card I made...

Did you notice that on this one there is both embossing and debossing??  Totally unplanned.   A corner tore a bit, so I cut the paper and turned it so the tear was under the sentiment panel.  After I took the pic, I realized I had not only turned it, I had flipped it!

Challenges...
Charisma Cards #19 - no digis (clear sentiments)
Wags n Whiskers #104 - anything goes

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night!!

Fuschia & Hummingbird - Outline

Fuschia & Hummingbird - Colored

Well Wishes - outline

I used the outline of "Well Wishes" for my card...

I had intended to make a birthday card and was sure I printed the b'day sentiment, but as I'm making the card, all I can find is the 'get well wishes' I had printed, so I made a get well card! :)

It is also available in color...

Well Wishes - color

Butterfly Wishes JPG and PNG

Golfer Guy JPG and PNG

I used the "Golfer Guy" outline...

I used my Spectrum Noir markers on both images.  ALL of my DP on both cards was scraps!!  :)   I added a bit of ribbon and twine, and some adhesive pearls.

A bit more "Mother's Day" for you...

I've got a card for a challenge to show you.  I made it early last week but didn't get it posted.  Today I realized I'd better get with it since the challenge ends late tomorrow!!

This is a CASE.  I saw this card and loved how Ellen had placed the stamp over the strip.   She explained that she stamped both the base and the strip and lined them up.  I am obviously a little dense and always stamped over the strip and was never pleased with the result.  Now I know the secret!!  :)

This is for Imagine That... digis by Kris: Progressive Challenge #6.  The image is Rose Blessings - Color.  I combined three flowers and fussy cut them.  My stamp is a rubber stamp from Stampendous.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!
