I wanted a special treat for my Junior Church kids tomorrow and had seen this recipe a few weeks ago, so I made these Marshmallow Popcorn Balls from allrecipes.com. I did as some reviewers suggested and added 1/2 c brown sugar to get more of a caramel corn taste. I didn't have much left to taste after making them, but what I had was good. Quite sweet, but that's fine with me! ;)
They took about 1/2 hour from start to finish which is another plus since I started them at 10:30 tonight because I was embroidering much of the afternoon and evening making ornaments for the kids, too.
These are made with Mylar and the designs are from Charming Station. They stitch up so quickly and are so cute! I added a back layer joined with a satin stitch and added the ribbon so they can hang them on their tree. The round ones are left overs from what I made last year. They came from Embroidery Library.

Christmas baking and embroidery
I'm so far behind on everything this year... just mailed my Christmas cards today... so decided to start some baking. Good idea!! I found this EASY but DELICIOUS recipe on a blog I follow...
Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies click on name to go to the recipe. :) Yummy!!!!
Ready to bake...
Ready to eat!! Recipes says makes 24... I got 29 and may use small scoop next time to get more. That way, I can eat more cuz they're small, right??
I've not started many of the gifts I planned to make and found out making this one that my embroidery machine may need servicing. :/ The bobbin tension is not quite right but I was able to disguise it by using black for the outer stitching all around. This is for one of my daughters to take for the white elephant gift exchange at the church teen Christmas party.
I imagine that either guy or girl would enjoy covering up with this snowman!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Christmas favors, gifts, and goodies
Today has been a busy day! With the help of my wonderful husband and daughters, we made 40 hot cocoa holders to give to my church ladies tomorrow at our Christmas meeting. I made Pomegranate Hand Scrub for prizes, and I made Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars for the intermission at my daughter's band concert tonight.
Let me show you.... here are the cocoa packets based on the one I saw Mary over at CardzTV make. Click HERE to go to her post and video. (I didn't use my Cricut at all on mine)
The snowman is a $1 stamp I got at M's last week. The sentiment is from Sweet n Sassy. Punches, brads, ribbon, and twine and we're all done.
Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars... so yummy!! Got this recipe from Jamie Cooks It Up! Check her out... her recipes are wonderful!! (Note the fancy plate... I don't want to have to worry about bringing it home again!)
And last but not least, I found this next great idea over at Greenbean's Crafterole. It is a hand scrub made from sugar and dish detergent! My girls tried it out and LOVE it!! Made some tags and we're ready to give these away. (6 pt and 6 1/2 pt jars took less than 5 lb sugar and about 2/3 my dish detergent... very economical gift, too!!) I'm going to try the body scrub next!!
Isn't blogging wonderful?? I love the crafts, recipes, and ideas for just about everything that can be found!! I hope you are inspired by something that I have shared!!

The CAS sketch that I followed on the weekend to make a thank you card was great, so I decided to do another.
This is Clean & Simple #169
I used scraps from my DCWV Holiday Premium stack.
I found the tree and directions at InkspiredTreasures.com - HERE. Love it!!
Recollections stamp, a little inking, and a brad finished it off.

Baby boy card
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are now looking forward to CHRISTmas!! I know we are!!
It has been so busy around here that I have not spent much time in my craft room, but I needed a baby card for a shower last evening, so I got out Create a Critter (LOVE this cart!!) and made a card. I also made a "1st Christmas" ornament but forgot to take a pic!
Stair step cards are cool and I've been wanting to make one for awhile. I decided to make a center stair step for this baby card and then realized that Cards for men are looking for 'fancy folds' this challenge, so I'll submit it there.
~DCWV "All About Boys" dsp
~Making Memories "pitter patter" dsp
~Paper Studio cardstock
~Inkadinkado stamp
~giraffe from CAC cut at 4 1/2"
~hemp cord
~chalking on edges
I made the cake, too, and didn't have a lot of time to be fancy, but made some cutouts from Lettering Delights "Peek a boo" with MTC.
Nutri Whip icing! Yummy!! My parents bring me some when they come visit. :)

Yippey!! I found blog backgrounds that don't mess up my blog!!
I have tried a few times to change my blog background to something other than the images Blogger has available. Not good!!! My gadgets disappeared, links covered my bar at the top so I could not sign in, links would not work... it was horrible so I went back to 'normal.' Well, today, I got tired of normal and wanted some cuteness and went looking. I found "Simply Blog It Backgrounds" with step by step instructions -including pictures- that even I could follow! :) I followed them and Voila!! Success!!
I tried several, liked them ALL, chose a Christmas one, and finally decided to wait until after Thanksgiving for that one.
I'm so happy! Do you like my new look?
*I did have to re-add my linkwithin. Not a huge problem!

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, with so many blessings to share, and with so many people I could/should thank, a 'thankful' note card is a good idea! I really should make a whole bunch of these!!

I wish I could post a video to show just how cute they are! Plus I was given Create a Critter for my birthday and have not had a chance to use it yet, so it was just time to make something! :)

a few more 2011 LO's
The last few weeks have been crazy for me. I've been gone 3 weekends in a row, and sick a couple of times in between. Not fun! So I haven't made any cards for awhile and have not made any layouts for a looooong time. I got back in my craft room yesterday and decided to make some LO's. These are not for any challenge, they are just for we, ourselves, and us. [Get it? It's the plural version of me, myself, and I ;-) ]
I know that I will never be able to scrap all my 23+ years of marriage, nor my 15+ yrs of children, so I decided to scrap this year as it went. A girl can dream, can't she?? I'm only on Feb and it is already Nov!!
My kids have bad eyes like their mother and all got new glasses in January. One of my daughters got glasses for the first time. No longer can she brag about not having them! :)
~Basic Grey Recess paper
~LD Red Hatter's Hand font
~Nymphette scroll
~Wingdings glasses
~all cut in MTC
I am doing a title pg for each month, so rather than love as would be expected for Feb, I did snow because I love snow and we got so much!!! :)
for the 2 pg LO...
~DCWV paper
~scroll from HA
~snowflakes from WICO
~"snow" and branch from WW
~K & Company sticker
~snowflake punch
~stickers I've had forever for "playing in the"
A friend always gives us an Amaryllis each year and this year it was so beautiful! It had 3 stalks, the first had 2 blooms, the 2nd had 3 blooms, and the third stalk had 6 blooms!!
Can't remember what all I used for this and am too lazy to go to my craft room and look, so no 'recipe' for this one. Sorry! :(
I'm at least making progress, so I'm happy about that!!

pink wedding card
My niece is getting married this weekend and I just made her card today!! How awful is that??!!?? but since I was so slow, I needed some inspiration, so I looked at my usual challenges to see what I should do. :)
This is a little different because wedding cards are not my forte. And it was a busy day! I made 4 cards -this one, 2 sympathy cards, and a thank you card- plus am getting ready to go to the wedding... flying to MN on Fri, and back on Sat. Quick trip! After posting this, I'm heading to bed... I will need to be up and out by 4 AM on Fri!!!
~Tuesday AM Sketches -sketch ('think pink' all month)
~Stampin' Sisters in Christ - sharing...2 of every element
(I used 2 papers, 2 Cuttlebug folders, 2 ribbons, and 2 stamps)
Here's the inside...
~Basic Grey paper
~Inkadinkadoo stamps
~Divine Swirls and Perfect Paisley embossing folders

O Come All Ye Faithful!!
I love Christmas music!! That is always the first sign of the season around our house. (And the last to be put away after!) My family love Christmas music, too! We have request night at church once a month, and one of my daughters picks a Christmas Carol every month all year long! And making Christmas cards is becoming more fun since Christmas truly is coming quickly!!! :)
This card is for these challenges...
~jingle belles - "A Caroling We Will Go" card inspired by a song (I got excited when I saw this prompt!!)
~Celebrate the Occasion - any occasion using red, black, and white
~Stampin' Sisters in Christ - Mk. 10:27 "...with God all things are possible" so "anything goes"
O Come All Ye Faithful is one of my favorite carols! In high school, I learned a descant for it that was so pretty! Even though that wasover 20 just a few years ago, I still hear it in my head when I play the song, and I still sing it when we sing this song.
~Red CS
~DCWV 'Performance' mat stack
~Allegro Cuttlebug folder
~Digi sentiment from Stitchy Bear Stamps
~Nestabilities
~gold ink rubbed on (sorry it looks yellow in the pic!)

I have mentioned before that I am the traditional red/green Christmas colors person. Really!!! So straying from that is a challenge. But I can do it!! :) Especially for a very good reason.

simple "So Thankful" card
I love fall colors, fall scents, and fall activities! (I just don't like the getting chilly part since I'm shivering most of the year!!) We went apple picking yesterday and had a great time. Not sure if we will make it to our local pumpkin patch this year. Their times are limited since they were flooded, too. I like pumpkin seeds, but that is about all I like about pumpkins... other than their color! :) But I really like the Thanksgiving cartridge and this cut!
I'm submitting it to 3 challenges...
~Stampin' Sisters in Christ - use fruit (pumpkin IS a fruit)
~Fantabulous Cricut - 'pumpkin time'
~Clean and Simple - sketch ...this is my first time participating over there :)
I cut this card a little larger than A2 to fit some envies that I have.

'Vintage'-ish Christmas card
I have just a few pieces left from the DCWV Holiday Stack I got a couple of years ago. I really like the vintage look of the pattern and colors... red, green, with the creamy tan (rather than stark white). And using up scraps is good, too! Then I have to go buy more! ;) It's a good thing my hubby doesn't pay too much attention to my blog! :)
Challenges:
~Mojo Monday 209 - sketch (this week is a contest)
~jingle belles - "peace" wording or something that evokes peace for you
~DCWV Holiday Premium Stack
~Bell border from MTC gallery
~Fancy cut bells from DCWV stack, pop-dotted
~Fiskars 'peace' and swirl stamp
~StazOn black and Stampology Autumn Leaves ink
~Queue dune ink on edges of green
~Ivory grosgrain ribbon

Blogging is not my forte!!
I don't have a card or LO to post right now because I just spent the afternoon pulling my hair out. It's a good job that I have lots or I would have pulled it ALL out this afternoon! And if you were looking at my blog today and wondering at all the weirdness, I am sorry! (FYI, I have a little computer knowledge but not much. I have told my husband he is NOT allowed to die since he is the one who fixes things when I hit those buttons I should not!)
I thought I'd make my blog a little cuter (actually I think it could use a LOT of 'cuter'ness) so went to find a cute blog background. None of the background seemed to fit my template, so I found a template. Not a good thing! I changed the template and all my gadgets were big time screwed up! One of the banners that I used to have were appearing over the blogger taskbar so I could no longer design or even sign in! I finally realized that if I went to another blog I could get to the blogger, but then the banners were appearing at random spots covering my gadgets.
And I just lost my cursor! How does that happen??? It shows up outside this window but not in here. ????!!???
Anyway, I will post this if I can actually hit the post button with NO CURSOR!!! It is a good job that I am not a 'curser' or I would be doing that right about now!! edit: I just previewed my post and now it has returned.
SO now there is a funny blue haze on my page and things still aren't as I wish, but at least I can sign in and post again!!
Grrrrr, Blogger! (But I guess it is kind of like FB... I don't pay a cent so I'd better not complain too loudly! :)

Encouraging note card and sharing my heart
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." ~Isa. 40:31
This will be a longer post than I usually make. So bear with me! :)
My heart is full as I write. Full with some sorrow, some confusion, but also with praise. The events of the last month have certainly made us 'wait on the Lord'! Hurricane Irene came through our valley on Aug 28 and nothing is the same. All three buildings on our church property were destroyed. In our town (our home is out in the country outside of it), over 280 of the 400 homes were severely damaged. It is easy to ask, "Why, Lord? How can this be good?" But we do trust Him!
Cleaning, tearing out, pulling down, and throwing away has been the focus. It's heart rending to drive through in the light of day and see homes so damaged or to see the empty hole where a home once stood, but it is almost as difficult to drive through at night and see no lights in the windows. We have no idea what the area will be in a few months... how many will recover and rebuild or how many will just move on. Right away, our church was offered the use of several other churches nearby, and we have been meeting in one of them faithfully.
The Stampin' Sisters in Christ's challenge (wings and a Bible verse) and devotional this week talk about Isa. 40:31. They also had a poem that I copied and pasted here because it touched my heart in a special way given the situation here...
YOU MUST WAIT
Desperately, helplessly, longingly I cried:
Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
And the Master so gently said, “Child you must wait.”
Wait, you say wait,” my indignant reply.
“Lord I need answers. I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened or have you not heard?
By faith I have asked and am claiming your Word.
My future and all of which I can relate
Hangs in the balance and YOU tell me WAIT?
I’m needing a ‘Yes”, a go-ahead sign,
Or even a ‘No’ to which I can resign.
And Lord, you promised that if we believe
We need but to ask and we shall receive.
And Lord, I’ve been asking and this is my cry”
I’m weary of asking! I need a reply.”
Then quietly, softly I learned of my fate
As my Master relied once again, “You must wait.”
So I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut and
Grumble to God, “So I am waiting for what?”
He seemed the to kneel and His eyes wept with mine,
And He tenderly said, “I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun,
I could raise the dead, cause the mountains to run.
All you seek I could give, and please you would be.
You would have what you want, but you wouldn’t know Me.
You’d not know the depth of My love for each saint;
You’d not know the power that I give the faint;
You’d not learn to see through clouds of despair;
You’d not learn to trust just by knowing I’m there;
You knot know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence were all you could see;
You would never experience that fullness of love
As the peace of my Spirit descends like a dove;
But you’d not know the depth of the beat of My heart,
The glow of My comfort, late in the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight,
Of an infinite God, who makes what you have LAST.
What it means that ‘My grace is sufficient for thee!’
But oh the loss, if I lost what I’m doing in you!

When we think of waiting on the Lord, we may think we need to sit and wait for Him to tell us to do or go. Think of this... what do you call that person in the restaurant that brings your dinner? A waiter!! When we wait on the Lord, we are waiting for His leading, but that leading comes when we commune with Him and continue to serve Him. The old saying, "You can't steer a parked car" is true!
As we continued to serve during this trying time, the Lord did provide for us. The church building we have been using has a very small congregation, and last week, they offered to sell us their property very reasonably. The Lord brought the people and the building together in His perfect way and time.
I did not have a digi stamp with Isa. 40:31 verse, but the promise that "God cares for the sparrow so He will surely care for me" came to mind, so I put birds on my card. And another special verse that gives great comfort!! These are both digis from Doodle Pantry so I'll submit it to their challenge.
I promise all my posts will not be talking of our trouble here, but wanted to share this because it fit so well with this challenge.
If you are interested in seeing our church, here is a youtube link... we have no pics of the high water because everyone evacuated thankfully!! We got at least 6' in the auditorium. (My husband is the pastor) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8MgNq6J3vw
Thanks for stopping by my blog, and I pray that you will know the Lord's comfort and strength if He calls you to go through some 'deep waters' in your life!!

Belated birthday card
I really should make a lot of this kind of card!! I remember birthdays but can't seem to get cards in the mail soon enough to be on time! :(
This card is for Birthday Sundaes Challenge. I wanted to make a criss-cross card for last week's challenge but didn't get it done, so I made one for this week's "belated birthday card" challenge.
The front says, "A little birdie told me you were having a birthday...
and the inside says, "...he just told me a little late. Happy Belated Birthday!"

"Just a Note" card
This evening, I needed to get in my craft room and make something. In some ways it seems like a lot longer than 3 weeks ago that Hurricane Irene came through our valley and left destruction in her wake. Towns all long the Schoharie Creek were devastated! Many homes and businesses destroyed. It will be a long time before life is back to 'normal' here.
I have felt like I should not do something as 'unimportant' as crafting while others have lost so much. But this week, a friend asked me and some others if we could share some of our supplies. She was being shown a destroyed home. As the lady was showing her house, she burst into tears when she opened the door to her craft room. It seems so little, but I pray it helps her even just a little to receive the things we shared.
I know that note cards can mean so much so that's what I made tonight. Looking for inspiration, I checked the usual challenges I do and chose a couple for this. I followed the Tuesday Morning Sketch, but once I was done, I realized I had missed the deadline by 8 min!! :( So I will only put this in Fantabulous Cricut's Challenge #77... instrument or musical notes
~Quarter Note for the note and swirl on outside
~DCWV Performance stack paper
~chalked edges
~CM note die cut on inside
Thanks for looking!!!
But God is good! He's provided a place for us to worship and though our building was destroyed, our church is alive and well!!
